Six Wives with Lucy Worsley - Parts 2 and 3

I love getting new perspectives of the Tudors, don't you? The time flies when I'm reading and learning more about them - even though I may not completely agree with various historians' interpretations, it's still fascinating. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Ms. Worsley's interpretation of Henry and his wives.

Here's "Six Wives with Lucy Worsley - Part 2"

.....Part 3 - again, Enjoy!!!

Six Wives with Lucy Worsley - Part 1

Greetings! I was alerted to the series by Lucy Worsley via my membership in The Tudor Society.
Here's Part one.....Enjoy!!

How Fascinating!

Imagine what Historical figures may look like today?

"Famous faces from history including William Shakespeare, Henry VIII and Horatio Nelson have been given a modern makeover to see how they would look if they were alive today.
The project, comissioned by history TV channel Yesterday to celebrate its new series, the Secret Life Of..., saw digital artists working closely with history experts to ensure the portraits gave a real sense of how historical characters would look if they were alive in the 21st Century."

Merry Christmas ....

Wishing all of my very dear bloggy/crafty/cross stitchy friends the very Merriest of Christmases and a safe and Happy New Year.

I would also like to thank you all for your friendship, support, advice, encouragement and kindnesses to me over the past year.  This blog, Tudor Tuesday fuels one of my many passions, History, and thus means a lot to me and while, posting on it has been erratic of late, it still gives me great pleasure to know that this blog has, just maybe, been of pleasure to you, too.

All the best for 2017 and I hope to see you all back on this SAL blog in January.

... a new "Tudor" stitching project for Kaye....

... as usual, and as I love to do, I am drawing a bit of a long bow with my next Tudor Tuesdays SAL project.

I have chosen to stitch the wonderful Nora Corbett Mystery SAL, "Wherefore art thou".

Now, the logic goes like this....

The design for "Wherefore art thou" is Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespeare, who was an Elizabethan, Elizabeth I was a Tudor monarch - so voila! Tudor Tuesdays!

This is my before pic ...

and my progress pic...

The fabric colour is truer in the second pic.

The colours in this design are truly stunning, so I am really looking forward to working on this one.

I wonder what all of you other Tudorphiles have been up to lately?????

Finally, I have made Henry happy and finished stitching him - phew!

Letter from Elizabeth ...

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, we can actually get to read letters from Elizabeth I to that naughty Thomas Seymour!

Elizabeth I, Queen of England
(1533–1603)
Autograph letter to Thomas Seymour, Baron Seymour of Sudeley, Lord Admiral of England, signed and dated [Hatfield?]
From Paston & Thane Collections

Gives you shivers, doesn't it?

Lizzie and Lizzie's Dad.....

Dear Lizzie has returned from the Framers and I am so pleased with how she turned out.

I chose a triple mount and I am so glad that I did - it came up beautifully!

... and my prediction two week's ago that Lizzie's Dad would be finished in one more evening of stitching was so wrong!  He is still a WIP but I am hopeful that next Tuesday will see him finished!  Fingers crossed.

Saturday 9 April 2016

Lizzies' Dad is nearly done .....

... so, while I hopefully stated in my last post that Henry would be done in one more evening of stitching - well, I was wrong - off with my head! lol!

However, I am hopeful of a finish very soon...

Stay tuned....

Lizzie's Dad....

Well, I thought that after spending so much time on Lizzie recently, I should pay some attention to her Dad.  So, I picked up this mini Henry Viii pattern which the wonderful Jo, from Serendipitous Stitching, sent to me last year sometime.  Thank you, dear Jo.

This was originally a kit but, of course, Jo had already stitched it so there is just the pattern with the Legend saying only colours not specific floss, so I was able to choose my own fabric and floss. I am stitching on 28ct French Country Spring green fabbie with assorted DMC threads but I have substituted a gold metallic thread for Henry's hat and chain.  I am so pleased with how quickly this has stitched up - this is only one evening of stitching:

So, if all goes according to plan - next Tudor Tuesday should see Henry all crowned, too!

I hope that all of you are enjoying all things Tudor,

hugs, Kaye

Tuesday 22 March 2016

Lizzie is crowned!

... well, finished - Happy Dance all over the house!

Here she is:      Isn't she gorgeous?  I am so thrilled with her.

The Queen's Sampler
Plum Street Samplers
28 ct Flax linen
Suggested DMC floss

She has been taken straight to the framers, so there will be one last update pic in a couple of weeks.

Hmm!  What Tudor design to concentrate on next is my big question.

Wednesday 17 February 2016

So close now ......

Well, I had to shift my Tudor Tuesday Stitching to Wednesday evening (due to social commitments, which you can read all about on my main blog, Kitten Stitching) but that was okay as I managed to stitch heaps even while beating DD hands down in Scrabble!

Before pic:

I am thinking that maybe one more Tuesday may even do it! Yay!
